La conférence était consacrée à l'étude des effets de la migration internationale sur la ditribution géographique du capital humain et ses implications pour l'économie mondiale.
Les questions abordées étaient : quelle est l'ampleur des flux migratoires (par niveau d'éducation et par genre)? Comment la mobilité du travail affecte les inégalités entre nations? Quels sont les déterminants des flux/stocks migratoires? Les obstacles politiques sont-ils quantitativement importants? Comment l'économie mondiale pourrait répondre à une libéralisation de la mobilité du travail (sélective ou non sélective)?
