In partnership with CERDI, FERDI has focused its work on the analysis of health systems in developing and emerging countries. FERDI gives priority at two areas of applied research because of their very high importance for health policies: The efficiency of health care structures, and health financing.
↪ To provide governments and their partners with research-based information that supports economically feasible and socially and politically acceptable decision-making.
↪ To contribute to strengthening human capital in health, particularly in relation to the health SDGs.
↪ Michel Garenne (Ferdi, IRD, Pasteur) contributes to the book The Power and Impact of Words in Managing and Shaping Demographic Crises, edited by Danièle Bélanger, Nicolas Cauchi-Duval, and Maria Cristina Sousa Gomes, with a chapter titled Crises and Resilience in Sub-Saharan Africa: Variations in Infant and Child Mortality Since 1950.
↪ The conclusions of the study on the efficiency of a sample of family health centres in Ulan Bator (Mongolia) were included in a petition to Parliament submitted by the Mongolian Ministry of Health. The study was conducted by Jacky Mathonnat in partnership with the Centre for Health Development.
↪ Jacky Mathonnat is taking part in the "Improving the efficiency of public and private general hospitals in Lomé and two regional cities and Determinants of preventive health behaviour among young women in Togo" programme. This programme, defined with the Togolese Ministry of Health is being carried out in collaboration with LEDi (Dijon Economics Laboratory, University of Burgundy) and the Economic Analysis of Public Policies team (ANEPP) at the University of Lomé.
↪ IHEDD-FERDI has introduced training programmes in health economics. These programmes are designed for public and private players who occupy positions of responsibility in health systems or in related fields such as finance and social affairs. In 2023, 6 training courses were provided with the support of the Monaco Department of External Relations and Cooperation.
