Specialist in health issues in developing economies, he has carried out numerous consulting missions in Asia and Africa, where he regularly visits. His research work focuses on health financing and the implementation of universal health coverage.
From 2003 to 2016 he created and directed the Master's degree in Health Economics and International Development, School of Economics / CERDI. He was Vice-President of the University of Auvergne, Delegate for International Development Policy from 2007 to 2012.
