Macroeconomic Policy and Environmental Challenges

FERDI highlights the role of monetary policy and financial systems in development and analyses the specific characteristics of fiscal, monetary, and exchange rate policies in low-income countries.

Objectives

↪ To contribute to research on monetary policies in developing countries.

↪ Tp investigate the factors that influence African participation in global value chains.

↪ To contribute to research on financial structures and development in partnership with the Banque de France. 


In these areas, FERDI collaborates closely with CERDI, the Banque de France, WAEMU, and CEMAC. 

Latest Achievements

In 2024, FERDI, in consortium with Linpico SARL, was selected to implement the Macrofiscal Facility — a project commissioned by the European Commission. This three-year initiative (2024–2027) supports the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) in conducting macroeconomic and fiscal analysis. The project is led by Grégoire Rota-Graziosi and Jean-Baptiste Le Hen.

Research on the links between exchange rate policy and climate change was presented and discussed at the International Symposium organised by the Central Bank of Madagascar in Antananarivo. 

FERDI and the Banque de France are continuing their collaboration through the production of joint studies and the organisation of conferences and seminars.
