This forum, which will be held from 7 to 9 July 2026 in Cotonou, aims to bring together researchers to present and discuss recent work on digital transformations in West Africa, from both academic and public policy perspectives.

The Global Research Network on Public Development Banks, in collaboration with Finance in Common and the French Development Agency, is organizing the 2026 Conference on Development Bank Research, focused on the theme “Public Banks in a Changing Global Financial Architecture.” The event will be held in Clermont-Ferrand in partnership with Ferdi and Cerdi.

Matthieu Boussichas, Programme Manager at Ferdi, is travelling to Helsinki for the Forum on the Future of LDCs, taking place from 19 to 21 May.

The G7, while reaffirming the importance of directing concessional financing toward least developed and vulnerable countries, has highlighted the diversity of development objectives. The FERDI organized a webinar on differentiating the rules for allocating concessional resources according to these objectives.

This roundtable discussion, entitled “Building Productive, Sustainable and Resilient Agri-Food Systems in Africa: Strengthening Partnerships”, was moderated by Jean-Michel Severino, Vice-President of FERDI,, and organised by Jean-Marc Gravellini, member of the steering committee of the FERDI Chair on Agricultural Modernisation Policies in Africa.

As part of Clermont Innovation Week 2026, representatives of the Clermont International Development Cluster (PCDI) hosted a discussion on the links between digital technology and economic development.

FERDI, represented by its President Patrick Guillaumont, took part in the conference-debate “Resilience of the Tunisian Economy: Measurement and Challenges”, organised by ITCEQ in Tunis on 27 April 2026.

The GIIN hosted a “Knowledge Hub” session focused on sub-Saharan Africa, exploring investment market opportunities across the region. The webinar offered insights into the macroeconomic landscape, recent investment and capital flow trends, and the role of impact capital.

From 21 to 23 April 2026, Ferdi visited Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) as part of its partnership with the National Pedagogical University (UPN). The mission was led by Vianney Dequiedt and Coline Real, and organised in collaboration with the Global Development Network (GDN), represented by Idah Razafindrakoto.

Jean-Marc Gravellini, Head of the Ferdi Chair on Agricultural Modernisation Policies in Africa, took part in the 10th edition of the Dakar Forum on Peace and Security.

Florian Léon (Ferdi) participated in the panel discussion titled "What potential still remains in the transition businesses are pursuing?"

Céline de Quatrebarbes, directrice de l’IHEDD-Ferdi, a animé un atelier de sensibilisation aux évaluations d’impact des projets culturels. Cet atelier était organisé par l’AFD, l’ENSEA et l’Université Senghor.

A panel discussion will focus on the financing challenges and emerging opportunities facing these countries.
