This webinar aims to examine the potential consequences of the contraction in concessional resources on the allocation of funding by multilateral development banks.

In particular, it will seek to answer the following questions:

  • Do the banks’ current allocation mechanisms protect the poorest and most vulnerable countries when resources are in short supply?
  • To what extent do multilateral banks effectively take vulnerability into account in their allocation decisions?
  • Should vulnerability play a greater role in the allocation of concessional resources alongside income and performance criteria?
  • How can we prevent poor and most vulnerable countries from becoming the main victims of ongoing budgetary trade-offs?
Speakers

Moderator: Patrick Guillaumont, President of Ferdi

Introductory presentation: Representative of the OECD – Multilateral Development Finance 2026

This webinar forms part of a week (16–23 June) dedicated by the OECD to multilateral development finance and builds on work carried out at Ferdi on incorporating vulnerability into the allocation mechanisms of multilateral development banks.  It also follows on from the event held on 26 September 2024 to mark the publication of the previous edition of the OECD’s Multi report.
