Annual Meeting of the Forum of Deposit and Consignment Funds

September 07, 2026 > September 09, 2026, Cotonou

Florian Léon, Research Fellow, will participate in a roundtable discussion on Monday, September 7, entitled “The Role and Challenges of Deposit and Consignment Funds in Economic Development.”

Context

In the face of growing challenges in financing sustainable development, mobilizing national savings and channeling them towards strategic, long-term investments have become a key priority for governments. In this context, Public Deposit and Consignment Institutions, as long-term public institutional investors, play a crucial role in transforming domestic resources into drivers of economic growth, financial sovereignty, and sustainable impact.

Established in 2011 in Marrakech, the Forum of Deposit and Consignment Institutions has become a leading platform for dialogue, cooperation, and the exchange of experiences among institutions from Europe, Africa, and Latin America. This dynamic is particularly significant for Africa, which continues to face a substantial development financing gap despite its considerable domestic savings potential.

Against this backdrop, and in light of the new momentum for African financial cooperation, the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations du Bénin (CDC Bénin), which holds the Forum’s presidency for the 2026–2028 term, is hosting the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Forum of Deposit and Consignment Institutions in Cotonou on September 7–9, 2026.
