Du 1er au 4 octobre 2024, une délégation de la Commission de la CEMAC, conduite par le Vice-Président Charles Assamba Ongodo, a effectué une mission à Clermont-Ferrand. Du 24 au 28 juin 2024, la Ferdi accueille à Clermont-Ferrand une délégation de la Commission de l’UEMOA pour une mission de suivi de la convention de partenariat entre la Commission de l'UEMOA et la Ferdi.

Patrick Plane, Head of the Sustainable Competitiveness Observatory Programme at Ferdi, and Alban Ahouré, Senior Fellow at Ferdi, will participate in this webinar on non-price competitiveness in the WAEMU. Their presentation will be based on a study conducted by Ferdi in collaboration with AFD.

Joël Cariolle (FERDI) participated in the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE) Economic Development in Africa Conference held at Oxford University from March 19-21, 2023. He presented his paper co-authored with Camille da Piedade (Cerdi-UCA) "Digital Connectedness and Exports Upgrading: Is Sub Saharan Africa Catching Up?".

Conference organised by the European University Institute (Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies). Jaime de Melo (FERDI, University of Geneva) gave a presentation on the systematic exploration of the trade effects of product-specific Rules of Origin.

Organised in the framework of the partnership between the CEMAC Commission and FERDI, this conference brought together academics, scientists, public and private decision-makers and aimed to continue the reflection on regional integration in Central Africa and to support African academic research on this subject.

Session: Covid-19 crisis and digital divide in the French-speaking area: Strengthening inclusion and digital sovereignty for greater resilience

Atelier organisé par la Commission de la CEMAC en présence du Commissaire en charge du département de l’éducation, de la recherche et du développement social, chargé des droits de l’homme et de la bonne gouvernance, M. Edjang Ntutumu Avomo, et coordonné par le directeur de l’enseignement supérieur, de la recherche et de la formation professionnelle de la Commission, M. Doukpolo. Lors de cet atelier, Vianney Dequiedt, directeur scientifique de la Ferdi a restitué l’étude de faisabilité conduite par la Ferdi.

Anne-Marie Geourjon (FERDI), Émilie Caldeira (University of Clermont Auvergne, CNRS, CERDI) & Bertrand Laporte (University of Clermont Auvergne, CNRS, IRD, CERDI) presented the study which aimed to assess the fiscal and economic impact of the full implementation of the ECOWAS Common External Tariff (CET) as of January 1, 2023, and to propose guidelines to improve revenue mobilization and fiscal transition.
