Kelly Labart, General Secretary of Ferdi, took part in the T20 Summit and in particular the launch of the T20 Africa Standing Group.
The Think20 (T20) is a network of research institutes and think tanks from the G20 countries. The T20 provides research-based policy advice to the G20, facilitates interaction among its members and the policy community, and communicates with the broader public about issues of global importance.
The T20 Africa Standing Group was launched at the T20 Summit in May 2017 in Berlin. The Standing Group aims at a more regular, systematic exchange between African and T20 think tanks. Its joint knowledge creation builds the basis for focused policy recommendations for G20 and African policy-makers. The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Kwesi Quartey has underlined the need for evidence-based policy advice during his address to the T20 ASG during its inauguration meeting. The network encompasses currently more than 30 leading think tanks from across Africa and G20 countries. It is a result of the first T20 Africa Conference that took place in February 2017 in Johannesburg. The next T20 Africa Conference will be held in Africa at the beginning of 2018.
