ean- Claude Berthélemy is an Emeritus professor of Economics and former Dean of the Sorbonne School of Economics. Previous positions include Director of Research at the OECD Development Centre and Director of the CEPII. He is the founder and Director of the Panthéon Sorbonne Master in Economics program. He is also a Correspondent of the Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques, and a Senior Fellow at FERDI.
A specialist in development economics, he has contributed among others, to topics as poverty traps, human capital and development, access to electricity and development.
He has also written extensively on aid and development finance. He has contributed to the foundation of the interdisciplinary journal Field Action Science Reports, as chief editor of its economics section, and he is associate editor of the Journal of African Economies, Savings and Development, and Revue d’Economie du Développement.
He is a co-founder and vice-president of Sorbonne Développement Durable, an interdisciplinary initiative promoting academic activities on sustainable development.
