He joined FERDI as a Research Assistant in 2015 after completing a master’s degree in Law, Economics and Management, specialising in Public Finance in Developing Countries.
He is now a Research Officer specialising in the taxation of extractive industries and the modelling of mining and petroleum resource rent sharing in Africa. He works extensively on the tax legislation and regulatory frameworks of more than 25 African countries. Together with the FERDI team, he has conducted comprehensive studies of the extractive tax systems of several countries, including Senegal, Gabon and the Republic of the Congo.
He also oversees the development and maintenance of FERDI’s website dedicated to mining taxation in Africa. In addition, he is responsible for training programmes at FERDI’s Institute for Advanced Studies in Sustainable Development (IHEDD). His work also focuses on identifying and assessing the budgetary cost of tax expenditures.
