The Role of Public Development Banks

FERDI is participating in a program supported by the French Development Agency (AFD) focused on public development banks, as part of the Finance in Common Summit (FiCS).

Objectives

↪ to analyse the financing structure of development banks 

 ↪ to participate in the international collection of data on public development banks. 

Latest Achievements

Database on public development banks. FERDI has joined forces with Agence Française de Développement and the Institute for New Structural Economics at Peking University to update and expand this database, created as part of the Finance en Commun summit, which lists more than 500 institutions worldwide and provides their year of creation, mandate, total assets, etc. 

Study on the Financing Structure of Development Banks. This study by Florian Léon and Mavis Bosman (IAE de Bordeaux) is underway. The results will be presented at the next Finance In Common Summit in China in October 2024.

FERDI plays an active role in the Global Research Network, a group of researchers specializing in development banks established at the Finance in Common Summit (FiCS). This network is organized around four key areas:  international architecture of development finance, private sector mobilization, solidarity-based and sustainable investments, and development bank analysis. Its aim is to influence international discussions on development banks at FiCS and other global events
