For the first time in decades, poverty is on the rise again, globally. Providing access to finance for the poor is therefore even more important. There is and has been plenty of scope for financial innovation, whether mobile banking, bonds, blended finance, etc.

But Much remains to be done, both to accelerate the pace of financial innovation for the poor, better and more consistently document what is ‘innovative’, how to credibly measure impacts and how to leverage more financial sources specifically targeting the poor.
