
The goal is to find those who can envisage the implementation of policy, enrich public debate and influence public decision making with a view to sovereign and sustainable development.
The prize will be awarded during the Africa CEO Forum, to be held in Kigali on 14–15 May 2026.
The competition is open to economists from any of the 54 African countries who hold a PhD, are under the age of 40 (as of 31 March 2026), and whose work has substantial relevance to the African context.

Candidates will be shortlisted following an independent review conducted by the Foundation for Studies and Research on International Development (FERDI), in collaboration with the editorial teams of Jeune Afrique and The Africa Report.
The shortlisted candidates will then be submitted to a jury vote.

The winner will receive a €10,000 grant, an online training course offered by FERDI, and interviews in both Jeune Afrique and The Africa Report.
