Institutions, informality, and conflicts in Sahel

Lecture by Nancy Benjamin, former world bank economist and presently Research Fellow at DPRU University of Cape Town.

Following the invitation of  FERDI and CERDI-UCA, , Nancy Benjamin gave a lecture to CERDI students on the theme "Institutions, informality and conflicts in the Sahel".

Nancy Benjamin introduced the main findings of her study co-authored with Ahmadou Aly Mbaye. This study is based on surveys of informal firms in the Sahel, including those in towns on the frontier with conflict zones. The purpose of the study is to point out the best avenues for enhancing the busibess climate in a conflict affected environment.
