Dairy company managers from three Sahelian countries and social science researchers will discuss the conditions for sustainable transformation of livestock farming systems to meet the demand of the dairy industry, with a particular focus on the availability and accessibility of animal feed.

This roundtable will address various issues related to livestock feed in the context of transforming livestock farming systems:

  • Intensify milk production and fodder cultivation: What are the key factors in this equation?
  • Combine livestock and fodder production as an effective approach to ensure access to livestock feed
  • Explore the potential of agro-industrial by-products (availability and accessibility).
  • Identify the ethical and environmental prerequisites for successful intensification.
