Sahel Chair Conference on the review of activities 2018-2021

On 15 June 2022 in Ouagadougou, the Sahel Chair presented to the main technical and financial partners working in the Sahel, the results of the Chair's activities and its new programme for the coming years.

Attendees:

  • The representatives of the public administrations of Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Mauritania, Niger, and Chad; 
  • The technical and financial partners: The French Embassy, the Sahel Regional Direction of the French Development Agency (AFD), the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Alliance Sahel; 
  • The Sub-regional organisations: The Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union, Executive Secretariat of the G5 Sahel;
  • The FERDI and Sahel Chair’s representatives, as well as the Sahel Chair Focal Points. 

H.E. Tertius ZONGO chaired the conference in the presence of Professor Patrick Guillaumont, President of Ferdi.

The objectives of the conference were:

  • To present the results of the activities to the various technical and financial partners, in particular those who contributed to the financing of the 2018-2021 activity programme.
  • To present and discuss the future programme of the Sahel Chair.
  • To discuss the partnership approach of the Sahel Chair.

As a reminder, the Sahel Chair was conceived as a tool for reflection and promotion of Sahelian expertise. It aims to enlighten the decisions of public and private actors for the sustainable development of the region. The objective of the upcoming programme is to meet the needs and expectations of all parties.
